Sprint 1 Blog Post Bird Brain
Sprint 1 Overview:
I have to say, about this sprint I did not have a clear goal of what I was supposed to accomplish. I had an asset list made to see what needed to be in the environment that the level designer was working on. From what I have seen of the Jira board at the start is that I had 2 cards I was responsible for: "As a player, I would like to have some props so that I can interact with them in order to understand the game concept" and "As a player, I would like to have a game piece so that I can have a visual representation of the player that I can control". However, later one of the cards was broken up and that brought up a problem.
Creating the game piece for the paper prototype card was completed. However, the bit of information that was not given to me is that the paper prototype was to be in a digital format for everyone to test remotely and it was not supposed to be a physical piece. It also did not help that the wording of the card did not help specify enough on what format it should be, digital or physical, so I made and carved a physical piece.
The card that had a lot of trouble was the creation of the props card. This card to me was an epic card. I did notify my lead that this card needed to be broken up, however, that did not happen until the day before the presentation. So, during that time, I had to put the work I did on those cards the day before. That left one card assigned and not completed which was to model a birdcage for the environment.
When that epic card was broken up, I had cards for the creation of several interactable objects and a room piece. There was a stick, a scissor, a pencil, an ornament, and a bird ring perch for interactable objects. Finally, there was a card for a platform for the bird and I did a nightstand table for the platform.
Overall, this sprint was a bit of a mess since there was not much of a clear goal for me in this sprint. I was just doing what the cards say and informing the lead about the problem with the epic, but it took a while for that action to happen.
