Sprint 4 Blog / Guns N Gauntlets
Sprint 4:
This sprint is a bit shorter than usual due to Ceasar Chaves day, but I did get work done during that time. As before, I am working on level assets for our game project. I am working on a different workflow this time since with the implementation of the cell shader in the project now I can start working in textures. Now how I work now is that I make the models, UV them, and then texture them. I also forgot to put this on this sprint review, but I did the finishing touches to the model that was assigned during the 3rd Sprint.
Tasks completed for Guns and Gauntlets:
- Crashed UFO Main Piece Model (3 points)
- under 1500 tris
- UV at 512 x 512 pixels.
- Bank Door model (1 point)
- under 1000 tris
- UV at 512 x 512 pixels.
- Portal Alter (3 points)
- 3000 tris
- Finished UV map all at 512 x 512 pixels.
- 2 Mobile Campers models (1 Point)
- 300 Tris Each
- UV within a joint 1k Map
- Wheel High poly
- 2 One Story Houses (1 Point)
- 500 Tris each
- UV within a joint 1k Map
- Shipping container (1 point)
- 200 Tris
- Uv within a joint 1k map
- High poly created
Tasks in Progress for Guns and Gauntlets:
- Texture for UFO Main Piece
- 512 Texture Map
Tasks incomplete for Guns and Gauntlets:
- Creation of textures for the Campers, Houses, and Shipping Container (1 point)
- 1k texture Map
Problems Encountered and Solutions Made:
There were 2 main issues that have2 main issues have occurred during this sprint. One issue was the scaling of some of the models that were assigned to me. One model was the bank vault. when this was assigned to me the measurements were scaled very big compares to the reference human model I have in the scene. the other model that had the same issue was the shipping container. the shipping container was very big in scale as well.
I brought this up to our lead and he saw the size differences. He told me to reduce the size of the vault by 2 meters and the shipping container by 1 meter.
The final problem for this sprint is the type of models the lead wanted. When making the camper models I saw the reference image that was given to me.
Seeing this I was to make the camper trailers model in this form. However, when it was brought up to the lead he expected this type of model.
Due to this confusion and the models already being made the lead decided to stick with the camper-type model rather than the big mobile home which changes the card a bit. This was not a bad transition but I felt that I should have to change the models. However, just to keep the work flowing he decided to change it.
